On July 4, 2025, the U.S. government signed into law the One Big Beautiful Bill (H.R.1)—a sweeping immigration and border security reform package. One of its key components? The introduction of a $250 Visa Integrity Fee.

While this new fee is legally in effect immediately, its implementation is not yet active. That means applicants don’t need to pay it—yet. When Will the Visa Integrity Fee Be Collected?

Although the law is already in place, U.S. embassies and consulates worldwide—including in Manila—have not started collecting the fee. Why?

  • A payment system is still under development.

  • The U.S. government is still finalizing implementation procedures.

What we know so far:

  • Collection may begin around October 1, 2025—the start of the U.S. fiscal year.

  • Full rollout is more likely in early 2026, aligned with planned inflation adjustments.

What This Means for Filipino Visa Applicants

Here’s the key takeaway:

The $250 Visa Integrity Fee is part of U.S. law, but you likely won’t be required to pay it until sometime in late 2025 or early 2026.

This includes common visa categories such as:

  • Tourist (B1/B2)

  • Student (F1/M1)

  • Exchange Visitor (J1)

  • Work Visas (H, L, O, etc.)
